Aubergine

Since we heard a lot of positive feedback about Aubergine, my Boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our valentines here.  Upon entering the venue we were greeted by the receptionist and ushered us directly to our table even though we arrived 45mins earlier.

They prepared a special menu for valentines.

This is what we had for appetizer. From left  salad  tossed in watermelon dressing,  poached lobster tail with granny smith jelly, mango coulis, black truffle shavings and blue berries , smoked ostrich Carpaccio and Frech duck  foie gras  praline.

Crayfish bisque with tortellini and leek julienne. At first I thought this dish would be a bit fishy like Antonio’s but it taste really good.  I really liked it. We both agreed that it was really good!

Pan fired Artic sea scallop on carrot puree with chorizo and vanilla nage. Hands down for this dish, the scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly and the carrot puree added to its flavoring. Sooo yummy!

Time for sobet! The sorbet was served on a teapot isn’t I it cute?  Dry ice was placed inside so when this was brought to the table smoke was coming out of the spout.

For the main course I had braised Australian veal cheek and grilled lamb chops served on potato mousseline with sautéed spinach, red cabbage ravioli and port wine reduction. One of the best lamb chops I've ever eaten. It was perfectly grilled and all the juice and flavor of the lamb was locked in. The potato mousseline were mashed which is a good thing since it goes perfectly with the lamb and veal cheek.

Caprice de dieux, Roquefort and caramelized chevre with grapes and raspberry coulis. A palate cleanser in preparation for our dessert.

Finally the last course of the menu dessert! They called it the “Valentines sweet temptation for lovers”. From left ice cream with chocolate sprinkles, heart shaped strawberry mouse cake and heart shaped gelatin.  Really a sweet temptation to end a Valentines dinner!

With the fast –paced environment that we are into I have to agree with the bloggers that the service in this restaurant was really slow provided that they hire extra staffs to assist them during valentines. But overall we had a wonderful experience.
