Matsuri Japanese Grill and Sushi (Tomas Morato)

Matsuri is a Japanese restaurant along Tomas Morato extension ( near ABS-CBN compound). Thanks to my friend who invited me to attend his birthday celebration I was able to try their food.

The Restaurant actually looks more like a modern Zen inspired house rather than a traditional Japanese tea house with paper lanterns and Japanese banners.

They offer ala carte or buffet but you don't have to stand up and fall in line. Just wave your hand and order all you want. To give its diners the most sumptuous dining experience at a very reasonable price.

Matsuri has extensive selection of sushi with Dynamite Roll, California Maki with Flying Fish Roe, Philadelphia Roll and AsparaKani Maki as their best sellers which are a great combination to its grilled dishes. Some these are: Grilled Angus Prime with Shiitake Teriyaki, Angus Prime Shioyaki, and Ushi Ebi Shioyaki (tiger prawns).

We begun our meal with Spicy Salmon. This dish is not as spicy as I would imagine. It was topped with Tempura Flakes that was quite a distraction to taste the salmon. What I did is I removed the flakes to enjoy that nice smooth melt in your mouth texture.

 Spicy Salmon

Chicken Teriyaki
It was chicken grilled with teriyaki sauce. Chicken was tender and teriyaki sauce mixed perfectly not to sweet it was just right. Yummm!

Tempura
This was better than most of the Japanese restaurant which convinced me to grab another order of this dish.

I was also able to try their Grilled platters, which includes Kani Bacon Maki, Gyu, Shita Tsukune, Uzura, Tebasaki, Shitakani Bacon and Ika. This dish is cooked and seasoned perfectly bringing out the flavor of each dish (Recommended for groups)

Overall, the service was good.   Servers are attentive enough to attend to our needs. They also made their recommendations and advised us on what to order.  The food came out fast except for our last orders.  But it was understandable since we are a large group and they need to attend to other customers’ needs that made them busier.
