I was able to re-visit Saint’s Alp
Teahouse in Katipunan. This time I went there to try their food out. It was
during lunch time when we went there so the place was packed, it was a good
thing there were group of students who had just left after having their meal.
While looking at their menu board it
was just then that I realized that they offered a variety of food from breads
to rice toppings. Yes that’s right this means you can visit this place anytime
may it be for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner. This explains why this
is called “Saint's Alp Teahouse”. They sell a variety of tea based drinks
and food.
Taiwanese Marinated Minced Pork
This is the Taiwanese style
“Giniling”. This dish has a strong Taiwanese flavor which will definitely
remind you of Taiwanese food. At first I thought the crunchy pickle on top was
just an ornament, turns out it was a neutralizer for the minced pork.
Taiwanese Breaded Chicken Chops
The chicken was cooked just right.
Chicken was crunchy with sufficient amount of seasoning not too spicy or salty
and topped with tea egg to enhance the dish's flavor. I personally liked
this dish I can finish the chicken even without the rice J
According to them all their spices included the tea they use to marinade the
eggs came from Taiwan. This explains why their dishes taste a lot like
authentic Taiwanese food.
Of course our meal would not be
complete without a drink. Since we can feel the heat of the sun we decided to
grab some drinks that would quench out thirst. We decided to have Double Mango
Agar and Matcha Aulait with Match Agar. What’s Agar? Agar is a special kind of
gelatin crated by Saint’s Alp. You can’t find this in any coffee or tea shop
since it is trademarked to them.
Double Mango
Agar
This is a Mango “Sorbie” (commonly
known as shake) with lemon Agar. The agar is blended together the mango
batter cutting the agar into small pieces. You’ll notice a slight peach taste
while drinking because of the fruit blending.
Matcha Aulait with Match Agar
Matcha Aulait with Match Agar is
also a refreshing drink. The flowery taste makes you enjoy this drink in
a different way. Definitely like this better than Starbucks’ Green Tea Frap.
Saint’s Alp will be launching this
new drink on February 14, 2012 “Valentines Day”. We’re lucky to have
tried this product. Strawberry lovers watch out for this drink! It’s a
Strawberry Sorbie with Nata de Coco. This tropical flavored drink taste is just
right and goes well with nata de coco. I personally loved this drink can’t wait
to grab this drink once it’s available in the market.
Saint's Alp did improve a lot from
my first visit. Can’t wait to try their Toast line! For people leaving in the
south don’t worry Saint’s Alp also has a branch in BGC. Cool right?!?! =)
