Feast like a King with TAO YUAN Restaurant

I grew up in a Chinese family, so most of the food I eat are Chinese cuisine be it on daily meals, birthdays, weddings or other special events.  So you can more or less imagine how often I eat Chinese food. Tao Yuan  serves Singapore and Hong Kong dishes. Now you know how excited i am knowing we're going to dine there. Tao Yuan serves the best Hainanese Chicken  because of this word of mouth about their food spread rapidly.

It was past 6pm when we arrived. Good thing we had a reservation since a portion of the restaurant was closed due to an event. We were served steamed peanuts a good appetizer  while waiting for your meal.

Hainanese Chicken

Condiments for Hainanese Chicken:  Ginger sauce, Soy sauce and Chili sauce.
We had the most talk about Hainanese Chicken and Hainanese Rice. The condiments were served in tiny sauce plates but don't hesitate to ask for more. It’s free of charge. Even without the sauce I enjoyed eating the chicken. It’s delicious a perfect combination with Hainanese Rice!

Cereal Prawn
This is my favorite. The first time I ate this dish was when I was in Singapore. Since this is their specialty, you need to order it per piece. The crispy prawn with yummy cereal, it felt like I’m in Singapore while eating this dish. I've tried several restaurants offering this dish, so far this is the best Cereal Prawn I ever tasted here in the country.

Laksa Soup
Just a tip when ordering the Laksa Soup, request the chef to make it less spicy unless you’re a spicy food fan. This seafood noodle soup has coconut milk in it making the soup taste sweet with a spicy after taste. I like this dish better than the spicy noodle soup of some famous restaurants in the metro but it was so spicy I wasn't able to finish it.

Roast Crispy Pork Belly
Their Roast Crispy Pork Belly has hoisin sauce and mustard with wasabi sauce creating a unique and innovative twist than the usual pork belly that’s dip in liver sauce like the famous Mang Tomas.

To finish our sumptuous meal we had a complimentary almond jelly for our dessert. A neutralizer for all the tasty dishes we had for dinner. I would definitely go back to this restaurant. ^_^

Be sure to make reservations ahead if you don’t want to stand at the door area and for a long time.

  1. So love the cereal prawn the beast!

If you're near San Jaun or QC Lugang cafe also offers dishes similar to Tao Yuan.
